Noi Bai International Airport is the biggest airport in Northern Vietnam. It serves the capital city of Ha Noi. Noi Bai Airport is one of Vietnam’s two main air gateways. The airport is located 45km from the city’s downtown.

Noi Bai Airport was covered an area of 650 ha with a larger international terminal in under construction in September 2013 with completion expected by the end of 2014. The new terminal will have a handling capacity of 16 million passengers per annum. The airport currently has a new 3,800-meter paved runway and an older 3,200- meter paved runway. The airport has a maximum capacity of 10 million passengers a year pass through Noi Bai’s single passenger terminal, connecting the northern part of Vietnam with destination in Europe, East Asia and major airport in Southeast Asia. Noi Bai is also a major domestic hub for the Vietnamese air network, Jetstar and Vietnam Airlines connect Hanoi to other airport in Vietnam. Low-cost airlines like Cebu Pacific, Air Asia, Jetstar and Tiger Airways link Ha Noi to other city in Southeast Asia.

From the airport, passengers can use buses to go to the center of the city. You turn right from the exit of the airport terminal for the bus stop. Operating hours for the bus run from 5am to 10 pm. The cost is VND 5,000 per ride and the bus stop by about every 20 minutes. Besides, you can choose several “minibus” lines travel from Noi Bai Airport to Ha Noi City center such as Kumho Viet Thanh, Vietnam Airlines and Jetstar. Instead of leaving at specified times, the buses wait until all seats are full, then leave for the destination. Expect to pay VND 32,000 per trip. If you choose taxi, you need to avoid taxi scams. When you exit and walk to the arrivals terminal to find a taxi. You may see some “helpful” people asking if you need a taxi. Do not accept. They will treat you.
