Phu Quoc Aiport, also named Duong Dong Airport was built by the French colonists in 1930s with a 996-m-long original runway. This airport serves all tourists to Phu Quoc Island for travelling and to any other city in Vietnam.
Due to the economic development of the island and continuous increase in passengers, a new Phu Quoc International airport was opened on December 2, 2012. It was covered an area of 8 square kilometers at a cost of USD 970 million. The new airport has a capacity of 7 million passengers per year, capable of handling  large aircraft like the Boeing 747-400s, Boeing 777s and similar aircraff .


Phu Quoc Airport has flights operated by Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air. Vietnam Airline currently maintains 67 weekly services between Phu Quoc and the cities of Ho Chi Minh, Rach Gia and Can Tho. While Vietjet Air offers direct flights from Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh to Phu Quoc.

The cost for these flights is from 40 to 200 USD depending on the route and economy of business class. Low-cost carrier Vietjet Air will unveil its Ho Chi Minh City – Phu Quoc service with one flight per day. Moreover, some airline companies from Russia, Europe, South Korea and Southeast Asia are also studying the possibility of opening air routes to Phu Quoc Island.
